Running a check

Enter the domain and hit "Check History Free". A full scan takes up to 30–60 seconds because it queries the Wayback Machine archive live. Results are cached for 30 days, so repeat lookups are instant. Free accounts get more daily checks than anonymous visitors.

The four evidence groups

• Wayback History (40% of score) — years active, multi-year gaps that suggest a prior drop, periods where the homepage mostly redirected (301 abuse), spam tokens in archived URLs and page titles, and language switches in the site’s past.
• Google Index (15%) — whether the domain still returns results for a site: query, and whether the indexed titles look legitimate.
• Safe Browsing (15%) — Google’s malware and phishing blocklists.
• Anchor Profile (30%) — the anchor texts of live backlinks, weighted by referring domains. A high share of casino/pharma or CJK anchors on a non-CJK site is the classic burned-domain signature.

Reading the verdict

• CLEAN (80–100) — no spam signals found; safe to shortlist.
• CAUTION (55–79) — something needs a manual look: open the sampled titles and archive stats shown on the result page.
• DIRTY (below 55) — clear spam footprints; usually not worth restoring at any price.
• UNKNOWN — not enough evidence (e.g. a domain that was never archived); treat as unvetted, not as clean.

The result page also shows the domain’s first/last archive years, snapshot count, sampled homepage titles across time and the top anchor texts — the same evidence our team reads.
